We were visited by a good sized seal today who spent some time on the south east side of The Island.
He was seen by many residents as he calmly swam slowly around the small enclosed area on the south east end across the canal from our local pub – The Weir Bar – who kindly fed the seal whom they have named Henry.
The Weir publican Joe calmly encouraged ‘Henry’ to perform though whilst he wasn’t too bashful about appearing, seemed a bit non-plussed by it all.
A seal – presumably Henry – has been sighted a lot around the nearby Thanes at Strand-on-the-Green and Richmond Lock. A welcome sight indeed!
- You can see Joe feeding Henry on TikTok here, where he makes an appearance about half way through the video, with The Island can be seen behind the on screen banner messages.
